Community rules

Draft, under legal review.

Last updated: 6 October 2026

LastLit works when people share real photos and vote honestly. These rules apply to every photo, caption and spotlight note.

The short version

Share photos you took, or have the right to share. Keep what you'd want to see more of, Fade what you wouldn't. Be decent.

Not allowed

Each rule below matches a reason in the app's report menu (⋯ on any photo, including the one in the spotlight).

Captions can't contain links, email addresses or phone numbers. Spotlight notes can have one link, and a moderator reads every note first.

What happens when you report

  1. Your report is private. The person you report is never told who reported them. The photo disappears from your feed straight away.
  2. Serious reports hide a photo. When 3 different people report the same photo for "Nudity or sexual content" or "Someone under 18", it's hidden from every feed and from the spotlight until a moderator looks at it. One person reporting several times counts once. The time it spends hidden doesn't count against its window.
  3. A moderator reviews it. If it's fine, it comes back with its hidden time added back. If it breaks these rules, it's removed: it fades, its owner is told, and it's kept privately for 365 days in case it's needed for safety or legal reasons, then deleted.
  4. Repeat or serious breaks. We can suspend an account, so it can't share, vote or add notes, or close it for good: it's signed out everywhere, can't sign in again, and its lit photo is removed. Where the law requires it, we report illegal content, including anything involving someone under 18, to the authorities. [TO CONFIRM: reporting obligations, for example NCMEC in the US.]

Every photo is also checked automatically before anyone sees it, and photos the check flags are turned away.

Blocking

You can block anyone from the ⋯ menu on their photo. Neither of you will see the other's photos, in the feed or in the spotlight. Unblock them in Settings → Blocked accounts.
